August 28th 2012 was the day of my big hair chop.
My decision to go this route was not a over night choice. I had been going back and fourth with going natural for almost 2 years, but in between I would get relaxers, but at the start of late February 2012 I decided to give it a try one last time. From then on I transitioned and did plenty of research on hair care products and other women's hair journey's which inspired me. During my transition I actually found it harder to take care of my hair compared to just taking care of my curly textured hair.
Many people don't fully understand the significance, the purpose or even the reason of going natural, but for me personally it was a spiritual cleansing to break away from the hair extensions, the relaxers and everything else to truly define who I am as a person. It sounds crazy!! but I feel the most confident I've ever felt. I'm able to look at life in a whole new prospective and actually value the things that REALLY MATTER in this point of time. People are so obsessed with vanity and prized possessions that we've forgotten the beauty of self and self love.
